I’m passionate about pushing the boundaries of contemporary jewellery design and I specialise in ‘creative stone setting’. A technique I created that allows me to explore the relationship between the gemstone and the metal in an unconventional way.
My Creative Process
My process begins with the careful selection of gemstones. I primarily use baguettes due to their clean lines, and I ensure that the gems are free from imperfections. Then, unlike traditional setting methods, I meticulously carve directly into the gemstone to create precise seats for the metal. This allows a more artistic presentation of the stone. I use medical grade stainless steel in all of my pieces. Its strength and durability allow me to achieve bold, architectural forms that are impossible with softer metals, such as silver or gold. I also use laser welding when creating. It's another key element of my process; with this advanced technique I can join metal with exceptional precision, minimising heat and protecting the integrity of the carved gemstones. The combination of these techniques lets the gemstones shine without obstruction from claws or bezels. Displaying their true beauty.
